Blue moons and haiku

*

*

evening settles in,

the lake holds still, barest of

ripples--antique glass

I am in need of lightness and levity. A couple of things upset me this week, so I'm glad to have found some peace, film delight and a real laugh to share.

First, yay, Deathly Hallows. I'm not going to spoil it if you haven't seen it, but what did I love? Harry, Hermione, Ron and then the spot-on adult actors who play them in the Ministry of Magic, Bill Weasley, the animated Three Brothers tale, the Seven Harrys and, well, I could go on and on. I have to see it again!

*

Okay, so this photo is very dark, taken on my walk home. But I love the spooky, mysterious atmosphere of the almost-full moon rising in a cloudy sky over this old house.

And that brings me to blue moons. According to Space.com, the full moon tonight is a rarity, because it will be one of four full moons this autumn. Or not. There's some controversy over this. Read more here.

But whatever you call it, there's a full moon and it's awesome.

And for the promised laugh-until-you-cry, visit DamnYouAutoCorrect. These real screen shots of hilarious autocorrections on mobile devices left me cackling, but, um, these are NOT G-rated, if you get my drift. Tip: Keep reading through the pages. I swear there are you-didn't-say-that! gems on many of them.

In case you're taking off this week for family gatherings, I wish you a safe trip and Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm sorry you were upset this week and I hope your walk, and that gorgeous sky/moon helped alleviate things. It lends so much atmosphere!

We're going to see Harry next Saturday, but I've been told by a reliable fanatic that it stays pretty true to the books. I hope so. I was disappointed with Phoenix....

Okay, gotta fly. Going over to check out the! autocorrect. Hope the rest of your weekend is great!

A wonderful smattering of perspectives here: an interplay of light and dark. Nature always seems to center us.

We stood outside and stared at the clouds lacing through the full moon last night. Seeing something like that helps the challenges from the previous week fade. Hope you are doing OK. We are going to see HP on Friday after T-day. I can't wait! Off to click on the laughter link now. Happy Thanksgiving Tricia.

I haven't seen HP yet, but my daughter totally agrees with your assessment! :) She loved it!

@WordsCrafter: Yes, getting out to walk and soaking up nature always is a tonic. Hope you like Harry and the autocorrects. Hee-hee.

@PaulC: Nature is my center, without a doubt. And thanks for appreciating my perspective. :)

@Liza: I'm so glad you got treated to the moon and clouds, too. Such moments always renew me. Have fun seeing HP!

@Jemi: I'm glad to know your daughter and I agree, and I hope you think so, too!

@Donna: Thank you. I loved those moments.

What a bummer of a week, but thank you for sharing your lovely Haiku and your gorgeous photos. I think nothing helps you through a rough patch like sharing happy things and digging deep to consider the happies in your life.

Hope next week goes a little more smoothly for you...

I'm sorry the week was hard - but Harry Potter!! That's a bright spot no matter what, right? And I loved the animated story as well. Just. Perfect.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for sharing that link, I'm going to click over after commenting. Also, if you don't already follow Sandra over at Absolutely Narcissistic, she always makes me laugh.

Great moon shot, it has been beautiful, hasn't it?

Wishing you a glorious new week of lightness (and illumination) and smiles, all of which you provide us through your amazing photos and haiku. Thank you.

@Susan: HP was super bright, a beacon of pleasure and satisfaction. :)

@PaulG: Thank you! I once worked with antique stained glass and really came to appreciate the rippling in it.

@Olivia: Oh, yeah!!! I'm so glad somebody got the full-on laugh treat that I did. I still break out laughing when I remember some of them. :D:D:D

@Viva: *blushes* thank you, my friend. And all those wishes to you, as well.

Hope you have a wonderful, restful, creative Thanksgiving. I've promised myself I'll see HP very, very soon. Now I'm off to that site for a needed laugh!

Loved Part 1.

Dobby!!! 3 Brothers! Hermione and Ron!

Unbridge's giggle is still the creepiest thing in the world. If I ever meet someone with a giggle like that, I might just have Petrificus Totalus on them.

And Bellatrix is still the best crazy creepy bad guy.

SWOON. If I get near a cinema again, I might have ot induldge.

Beautiful haiku; sorry to hear about your rubbish week. :(

Then moon has been beautiful here the past few nights. I hope it's cheered you up a bit.

Tricia J. O'Brien said...

@TerryLynn: Thank you, my fellow nature lover. I couldn't live without lakes, streams, oceans, forests, mountains, dunes, hawks, meadowlarks...well, the list goes on. :)

@Mel: Hope you got a chuckle from that site, and go see HP!

@Claire: Yay! Agree with all you said. And I loved the way Bellatrix reacted when Voldemort chided her. Must see again!

@Talli: Thank you, and I'm already turning this week around. No more rubbish!

I do so love a blue moon. And that photo was all kinds of nice and creepy.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

I am already giggling at the thought of a website called Damn You Auto Correct. My friends and I have already coined new slang from the hilarious ways it's wormed itself into our lives (one friend texted me: "That would be ferret!" when she meant to type "That would be fine!" So now everything is "ferret".)

I'm not sure why there should be controversy about whether a full moon is a full moon, but those astronomers are a wacky bunch. Just look at what they did to Pluto.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving, Tricia. :)

Tricia J. O'Brien said...

@Tabitha: That photo does have a bit of cozy and a bit of scary, I agree. Thanks for coming by!

@Phoenix: Hi, Tracy. I love the ferret anecdote! That's hilarious. I laughed so hard, I cried at the ones on that site.
Poor disowned Pluto. :(
Hope your holiday is lovely, too.
