haiku in 2020 time

crow in morning light
pecks a dead rat on a fence
while cities burn

The crows and I are becoming familiar these days. I give them peanuts occasionally, and they frequent the birdbath. I like to think there is mutual respect.

Meanwhile, my heart hurts for the damage human beings keep doing to each other and the planet.

So there is the haiku that framed itself in my mind this morning as I ventured out and retreated back.

The imagery is pretty right for what is happening these days...

Thanks, Sarah. I'm back only in that I flit in and out with a haiku once in a while. :)
