No Kissing Allowed

Prepare yourselves for the deliciously tantalizing, hilarious or break-your-heart No Kiss Blogfest taking place Jan. 2. Frankie Diane Mallis is hosting. Each participant will write an excerpt of a kiss unconsummated. Sign up on a widget at Frankie's site if you're brave enough to put your baby out there or just click on links and lurk when the fest opens. I'm taking the dare and promise to amuse and turn up the heat.
No Kiss is a much-anticipated off-shoot of Sherrinda's Kissing Day Blogfest that drew more than 90 participants.

I am feeling majorly appreciated by my fellow bloggers. Laurel Garver at Laurel's Leaves gave me a bouquet in the Picasso Award and Victoria S. included me in the Circle of Friends. Thank you both!

I feel like a dragon sitting on a horde of awards as recently I also received (and noted and put in my sidebar) the Superior Scribbler, Silver Lining and One Lovely Blog awards but didn't have time to pass them on.

So I propose to nominate some cool bloggers I've met fairly recently and let them choose any of the five awards and make their own rules for passing them along.

Please stop by and visit:

Yvonne
And come on everybody. I want to hear those almost-kissed stories!

Thanks Tricia, for the award! :) As pink is my favourite colour, I'll adopt the "Lovely Blog Award"!

And talking about lovely, teh Leonardo de Caprio and Clare Dane "Romeo and Juliet" is still one of the *best* movies I've seen. Absolutely brilliant!! Another movie worth seeing - if one is feeling brave - is Leonardo di Caprio in "Blood Diamond". He plays an ex-member of 32 Battalion (the most elite fighting unit of the South African Border War)and how he never won an Oscar for it I just don't know - he got the accent perfect and held it throughout the movie. Amazing actor. The movie is uncompromising and heartrending. And it has an unconsummated kiss in it, because there is a strong chemistry between di Caprio and the female lead but circumstances keep them apart!

Your welcome, Ann! I love Leonardo's acting talent, going back to Gilbert Grape. I haven't seen Blood Diamond because I feared the violent parts but maybe I'll have to brave it after your glowing recommendation. Cheers!

Thanks, Tricia! I'm enjoying your blog, too :)

BTW, love the San Clemente pic near the bottom. My husband and I used to spend a lot of time at that beach when we lived in Irvine and Corona Hills.

Sherrie: Thanks! I love San Clemente and go there often. It has that small beachtown feel that is lost in most places now.

Nisa: I can't wait for NoKiss. I think it will be a hoot. Thanks!

Frankie: I'm so glad you jumped on this. It's such a great idea and will be a blast, no doubt about it.

Those are some of my favorites, too. And the others, thanks for the tip, going there.

Gosh, I get to pick? You know...I loved your Superior Scribbler Award so I'll pick that one. Thank you so much!

I'll have a little extra time this weekend so just might pop over for NoKiss. And, yes, Blood Diamond was an excellent movie.

Happy New Year, Tricia.

All of these challenges and so little time!

Welcome, JD!

Yvonne: You are a most Superior Scribbler, and, boy, would I like to read a no-kiss from you!

Thanks, Tamika!

Shelley: Challenges keep us hopping, often in a good way. I loved the last fest. I bet you have one for the faire story-nudge, nudge.

Oh poo. I missed the kiss day (I actually had a scene I could have shared) and I don't have a no-kiss. (Kissing scenes--consumated or not--are rare in middle grade.) Looking forward to reading yours and congrats on your most recent awards!

Thanks so much for thinking of me!

I was thinking the Superior Scribbler award sounded fun--I still remember standing up to read a story I wrote about my cat in front of everyone in the first grade.

I'm looking forward to seeing your no-kiss contribution! It's been great meeting all these new bloggers :)

I can picture Dragon Tricia sitting on her trove of award treasures, sharing them with other writers.

I look forward to reading the almost-kisses. Much as I love the tension of unrequited love, my WIP heroine has none to offer. She is well kissed while facing other challenges.

Yay! Thank you so much, Tricia! I'm going to snag that Circle of Friends award in honor and appreciation of the many friends I've made among my fellow bloggers - present company most definitely included. Congratulations to you and Talespinning for all your well-deserved awards.

Can't wait for Frankie's No-Kiss Blogfest. It's going to be so much fun!

Congratulations on all the awards. Well deserved. I'm glad I found your blog, it's always delightful.

Thank you, Tricia! I think I'm going to take "The Circle of Friends Award" because that's what I think blogging is all about. Thank you for including me in your Circle of Friends!

I think all of them are new friends for me too! How fun. It's a small blog world after all. Can't wait to read your No-Kiss story!

I just watched that movie of R&J for the second or third time. I absolutely loved it as did my family. It is one of my favorite movies and among the best modern adaptations of Shakespeare.

Happy New Year!

Mel: Oh, those middle grade non-kissers--they hold hands and think about it, for sure!

Amalia: That's wonderful to remember reading your own story in first grade. You definitely need that award. I can't wait to read the no-kiss stories. It is so much fun to meet so many new writers this way.

Donna: I think the stories are going to be great fun. And you must have fun, too, making your MC so well kissed!

VR: It is a most lovely circle of new friends. :)

Tricia J. O'Brien said...

Bish: And I am sure glad you found me. You gave me my first-ever award!

Mary Anne: I love that the circle keeps growing. Writers-who-blog make great friends.

Natalie: It's funny because the circle grows larger but it feels small as we all get to know one another. I'm excited about no-kiss fest, too!

Sarah: It really is a stunning remake of the story. But then Shakespeare is so stunning to start with that people never tire of telling his tales over and over.

I love the kiss blog festing going on, kiss or no kiss! It's a brilliant, writerly community minded event. I'm on board with this one!

PS: There was also a Christmas poem event, hosted by Totalfekineejit. I missed that one, too!
