Seeing things

serpent of the lake
and sirens' call of secrets
lurking in the deep
*
Can't help it. I see dread things.
*
They aren't real. Or are they?
*
Mwa-ha-ha. What have you seen lately?

Cool pic! I see things too, most of which really aren't there :)

Awesome! I love the twists and turns and pictures I see in the bark of some of my favourite trees :)

We have textured paint on the walls in one of our bathrooms. The other day I found myself staring at what looked like an old man's face in the paint.

And yesterday I saw a picture of a storm cloud that looked like a gray hulking beast reaching toward the ground.

I could go on. :-)

Your photo makes me think of a gnarly old arm with long spindly fingers...or tentacles.

You always have the most haunting pictures!!!

@Damyanti: I love the way it boggles my mind sometimes when I realize what I'm seeing.

@Jemi: I almost did a bark post today! I am going to do it, I've been shooting photos for awhile. :)

@Nicole: It is creepy isn't it? I was walking along and went, 'Oh, a serpent!'

@Rebecca: Tentacles, eeks! Glad I didn't fall in.
And watch out for storm clouds reaching towards the ground!

@Victoria: I wonder if that means I'm sorta haunted. ;)

My goodness; that log is a lurking serpent in disguise. Great pic, as usual.

Beautiful! I also see twisting flowing hair, perhaps a siren or mirmaid, or some poor heart-broken lass, gone and drown herself.

Sometimes I see things in the bark of trees, obviously in clouds, and in rocks.

Pat, I love to see things that aren't really there. Makes me know I'm really here. hehe

I love to look at rocks and tree trunks, too. Love your evil laugh. :)

I see snakes. Lots of really mad snakes.

Hey, it's like a Rorschach test!

Teeth and skeletal bones. Creepy!

Tricia J. O'Brien said...

@Yat-Yee: Thanks! Yes, it lurks.;)

@Sherrie: Glad you like. Maybe it's a sign of our very active imaginations.

@Bish: Yes! There are shape-shifting things going on there...

@Robyn: I love that comment--makes you know you're really here. Wow, that's wonderful!

@Linda: Oh, no! Will somebody analyze us? Well, too bad if they do, because writers have to go to the weird places to get interesting, don't they?

@Liza: Gaping, yawning mouth. ;)

I saw images of a fish, a snake and a beaver's back in that photo.

Once on a solo kayak trip I saw lots of ancient faces in twisted, gnarled driftwood logs at dusk.

When I first looked at the photo, I thought it was creepy, but after I stared a while, it morphed into a veritable Rorschach. Yes, I see the serpent and the dread things, but I can also see my cat stretching after a nap.

Awesome picture! I see otters and seals in the wood. Great way to image what you care about, eh? :o)

Have a great weekend!

I see crocodiles.....is this normal? ;) Happy weekending! :)

@Paul: A beaver's back! I see it. That's great.

@Viva: I love that it morphed. It's so fascinating what our brains do.

@Jackee: Otters and seals! Oh, this just keeps getting better. :)

@Sarah: Crocs! I don't know about normal, but it sure is awesome.

I'm curious-did you snap that pic?

Hmmmm, shadows. Yep.

Interesting post and concept, loved it!

Wow...those ARE totally creepy things coming out of the water.
