Loving that block of mine

The block I live on is called a Walk Street. The houses face each other with driving access in the alleys behind. For years, the inhabitants have held Summer Solstice block parties--a time for great food and conversations, kids making chalk drawings.

This year, some folks decided to get more elegant than folding tables. Pretty seductive, right?

The street filled with people a bit later. It was a fabulous party and a great welcome to summer. The longest day was a total winner. And Lucy was there.

I haven't been blogging as often as I used to, and neither have a lot of other bloggers I know. The world shifts and so do we. I will put up posts, though, in between finishing my writing project and attending the big SCBWI summer conference. I'm pretty excited about taking novel intensives with editors Ari Lewin and Krista Marino.

Hope everyone had a wonderful solstice and has bright days ahead, too.

It is not the regularity of posts, but the quality after all :)

Wonderful solstice and bright days ahead for you too.

What a beautiful street scene. I've always wanted to have a Summer Solstice party. I'm one of those who isn't blogging as often. Summer is just too busy. I wish I could say I was going to a conference instead of just talking to myself as I cage tomato plants and pick strawberries. Good luck at the conference. We're in this for the long haul.

I could SOOOOO lounge on the sidewalk couch! Looks so awesome!

I can't blog as much, either. I miss the connections most of all. But I cannot seem to give it up altogether. I wish I had more time to read blogs, but I guess it works out since folks are posting less anyway:/.

I would be lying if I said I didn't miss the way things were....

What a cool concept - I've never heard of a walk street before!

wendy!!! what a sweet thing to say, thank you.

Yvonne: there's a lot to be said for time working in the garden, plenty of words can grow there, too. ;) And, you're right we are in this for the long haul. Glad to have you along for the ride.

Shelley: Isn't that cool? They spent so much time making a little nook.
I miss it, too, but I'm so glad to have made friends like you.

Jemi: Walk streets are awesome. There is a whole section of Venice built this way.

I'm not blogging as much either, but I love to stop by here and see your always-lovely pictures!

And I love the swanky block party set-up!

Hi Stephanie!
As you see I really am not here as much. I will be. Summer is going great. Hope yours is too.

What a fun neighborhood! Yes, I've been a bit remiss at updating my blog lately too. It is nice to get back to it. Have a wonderful time at SCBWI and good luck with your revisions!
